The League of Reston Artists Book Club brings members together quarterly to explore and discuss books related to art, creativity, artists, and the creative process. Meetings are hosted in members’ homes and offer a relaxed opportunity to connect with fellow artists, share ideas, and enjoy thoughtful conversation beyond the studio. Quarterly Book Club Meeting
The next gathering of the LRA Book Club will take place on Thursday, September 10th at 7 PM. Location and host TBD. The book for the quarter is “Theo Of Golden” by Allen Levi. This is a heartwarming novel about and elderly man’s campaign of anonymous generosity in a small Southern town, focusing heavily on themes of kindness, connection, and the power of truly seeing others. We’ll do a fun activity, then discuss the book. Feel free to bring an appetizer or beverage if you feel so inclined!! Sign up below!!
Did You Know?
The inaugural LRA Book Club took place in May, where participants discussed The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar. The novel highlights the life of Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law, alongside the story of a modern-day auctioneer.
After the discussion, members painted Van Gogh–inspired works, shared stories, and enjoyed time together over light refreshments. It was a small but lively group, and a wonderful start to what promises to be a meaningful addition to LRA programming. The Book Club will meet quarterly, with a continued focus on novels about artists.
