Exhibit Policies
The League of Reston Artists offers a series of exhibits each year. The LRA team is responsible for selecting and scheduling all exhibitions. LRA mounts solo, themed, and juried group exhibitions, which may be proposed and organized by LRA curators, guest curators, and individual artists. LRA Group Exhibitions are ‘Judged’ (selected for prizes) but NOT ‘Juried’ (selected for entry) unless specifically stated.
All member artwork is generally accepted for Judged shows unless it does not meet LRA's exhibit or hanging requirements. Please adhere to the number of pieces and/or the size and weight limitations for an exhibit.
Exhibit Policies
-
Exhibitors must be over 18 years of age. Each Exhibit Registration will specify MEDIA REQUIREMENTS and whether Non-Members are eligible. LRA does not exhibit 3-D work due to display limitations and fine craft items are not accepted. All works exhibited within the past 18 months at the same venue are not eligible. All work should be of good taste for a public building. The venue and LRA reserve the right to unconditionally reject any work not deemed suitable for display based on content or quality. All work should follow LRA framing guidelines.
-
Exhibitors normally pay an entry fee used to defray the costs of that exhibit. Entry fees vary depending on the type of show and are included in each online entry form. To make an entry payment for any of the shows, please pay online using the payment buttons that appear with exhibit registration. Payment buttons will be visible while the exhibit is accepting entries.
To pay your Exhibit Fee with credit card you DO NOT need a PayPal account.

All artwork must arrive ready to hang. Paintings and photographs must be appropriately framed; photographs must be matted and framed under glass. Gallery-wrapped canvases do not require framing. Metal prints are acceptable with a secure built-in hanging system.
Framed artwork must have eye hooks or D-rings on both sides, securely strung with wire. Hardware should be positioned near the upper back of the work, with the wire tight enough that it does not show above the frame when hung.
Artwork may not exceed 36" × 36" in overall size. Each individual piece may not exceed 15 lbs in weight, including its frame and mounting materials. For multi-piece works, all components together must fit within the 36" × 36" maximum dimensions when installed; however, the 15-lb weight limit applies separately to each individual piece.
Artwork that is wet, damaged, improperly presented, or unsafe to hang will not be accepted. This includes artwork with broken glass, worn or damaged frames, unsecured artwork, kickstand frames, clips, or inadequate hanging hardware. LRA also reserves the right to refuse artwork that differs from the information provided on the entry form or cannot be safely installed using LRA's standard hanging system.
Each piece must have a label affixed to the back with: Artist's name, phone number, title, medium, and price or "NFS" (Not for Sale).
-
Artwork may not be exhibited at the same venue more than once within an 18-month period.
Previous award-winning artwork remains eligible for awards in future exhibits.
There is no age restriction on artwork; older work may be exhibited provided it meets all other exhibit requirements.
All accepted work must remain for the duration of the show.
LRA reserves the right to photograph work for publicity and use on the LRA website, Facebook page and social media.
LRA is not responsible for works left after the pick-up dates following the close of the exhibit.

Sales
LRA will retain a 10 percent sales commission on all AIPP or LRA website sales, including sales made up to 30 days after the exhibit closes that are a direct result of the exhibit.
The price submitted on the entry form is the final retail price for the duration of the exhibit and may not be increased, decreased, or otherwise changed once the exhibit opens. Artists should set their price with the LRA commission in mind before submitting their entry. Any charitable donation or other contribution an artist chooses to make from the proceeds of a sale is the artist’s responsibility and may not be added to the listed price.
Work marked “Not for Sale” (NFS) on the entry form will not be offered for sale. Artwork will be sold framed “as exhibited” unless specifically stated otherwise.
Clients wishing to purchase artwork from an exhibit will contact the artist using the email address or QR Code provided on the artwork label. The artist is responsible for arranging payment and delivery or transfer of the artwork.
Virginia sales tax is the responsibility of the artist.
Please notify the Exhibit Chair of any sale. Payment of the 10 percent LRA commission by exhibiting artists is handled on the honor system and may also be paid directly through the LRA website.

Artists exhibit all work at their own risk. LRA and the venue are not responsible or liable for damage, theft or loss of an individual’s work from any cause whatsoever. LRA will not be responsible for paintings not picked up on time and such works may be left at the venue uninstalled and unattended. If you are unable to pick up your work on time, please make arrangements with someone to do that for you.
