The League of Reston Artists / Reston Photographic Society is pleased to present a photography exhibition at the U.S. Geological Survey Headquarters in Reston, Virginia. This exhibit has no set theme. Images that reflect or connect to the USGS mission—such as landscapes, natural systems, environmental change, scientific exploration, or the relationship between people and the planet—are especially welcomed. All subject matter should be suitable for a government facility. Applications will be open on Monday, February 9, 2026.
This exhibition celebrates photography as both an artistic and observational practice, highlighting images that invite viewers to look more closely at the world around them.
For those new to the LRA and RPS, please note this is not a juried show and you will only be notified if your work cannot be accepted because the show is full.
About the USGS: Part of the U.S. Department of the Interior, the USGS began in 1879 to study the nation’s lands and resources. Today, we monitor, analyze, and predict Earth’s changing systems. The USGS provides scientific information and near real-time data on current conditions that helps communities prepare for natural hazards, manage water supplies, earth observations, and guide energy and mineral development.
We reserve the right to reject works on the installation date if they do not meet our requirements, including hanging instruction,, but this happens very rarely. Please check that your hanging wires and frames are in good condition.
There will be cash awards for the first, second and third place photos.
Please note that the USGS is only open to visitors during regular business hours. All visitors to the USGS must show a photo ID and pass through a security screening. When visiting, please park in Visitor Parking or you may be towed.

Number of Images: Each participant may enter up to 3 images. A maximum of 60 entries will be accepted. Maximum size is 36 inches width.
