This online, co-taught, class is for artists of all levels interested in learning and improving their techniques of East Asian (Oriental) brush painting. Beginners will be taught the use of the basic materials and traditional subject matter. Intermediate students will be offered more complex subject matter such as animals and landscapes. Advanced students will be shown special techniques and materials to extend their range of artistic expression. Students will observe on-line instruction and have downloadable models from which to practice. Different schools of this ancient art, from the traditional to experimental, are explained and demonstrated over the year’s curriculum. There is a strong emphasis on composition and design principle.
