Council for the Arts of Herndon is pleased to announce that Lisa Gold, Executive Director of the Washington Project for the Arts, (the WPA), will be joining us for this month’s Creative Connections event! This FREE event will begin with a brief presentation on the WPA and how to better network and promote your art and career, followed by ample time for discussion and Q & A.
The WPA, first established in 1975, is a highly successful non-profit contemporary fine arts organization in the DC Metro area. Their mission is to “serve as a catalyst for contemporary art,” and to support artists. They do this by presenting exhibitions, issues, art programs, and by connecting artists with the community in a variety of innovative ways. The WPA is now the largest visual arts-based membership organization in the DC area. They are both a presenting organization and an organization focused on supporting artists at every point in their professional development.

Lisa has been with the WPA since 2009, when she was appointed the Executive Director. Her previous experience includes working as the Public Relations and Marketing Director of The Drawing Center in New York City, Director of Development and Communications at Socrates Sculpture Park in New York, and Outreach and Development Director at apexart in New York City. She also served as the Chair of the New Leadership Alliance of the New York City Chapter of ArtTable and the Open Studios Director for the Downtown Arts Festival.
