| The
Artist: Laura Howell is a talented photographer residing in Burke, Virginia. Her interest in photography began 20 years ago, but only in the past two years has she taken a serious interest in her favorite hobby. She is currently the Competition Assistant with The Vienna Photographic Society; as well as a member of the League of Reston Artists (Reston Photographic Society) and The Northern Virginia Photographic Society. She has won numerous awards and contests including those at the Vienna Community Center (Honorable Mentions in 2002 & 2003), the U.S. Geological Survey (3rd Place in July 2003), and the First Annual Community Art Show & Afternoon Tea (Honorable Mention in April 2004) in Haymarket, VA. In the 2003 Town of Vienna Calendar, Laura's image was featured for the month of April. She participates in exhibits at the Vienna Community Center, the
U.S. Her major objective in photography is to search for those powerful opportunities when light, detail, and perspective unite to produce an evocative image full of moment and meaning. |
