Fine Art Mosaics Classes Taught By Anita Bucsay Damron

Session 103: Thursdays, November 29, December 6, 13, 20

Course Description: Students will design and create a fine art mosaic piece from beginning to end using the direct method. Students will learn how to plan their design, select materials, prepare the substrate, and apply tesserae using the direct method. Nippers will be used, and students will grout their project and attach hanging hardware. Students are encouraged to have a theme in mind or bring a photo of artwork they like for inspiration, and findings to incorporate into their work if they wish. A glossary of terms, and resources list will be provided. All experience levels welcome. Minimum 5, maximum 8 students.

About the instructor: Award winning and nationally collected artist Anita Bucsay Damron takes an expressionistic approach to color and texture. Primarily self taught, she has also studied under Pam Coulter, Laurel Skye, Trisha Adams, Robert Burridge, and many others. In addition to her work as an artist, she worked as a gallery manager, and currently is an artist agent and an art consultant. Local galleries include The Torpedo Factory Art League Gallery in Alexandria, VA; The Workhouse Art Center in Lorton, VA; and The Greater Reston Arts Center in Reston, VA.
