‘Twosomes’

by Mark Chester

Exhibit Opening / Lecture / Book Signing

Join us for a multi-faceted event that is open to the public and features an exhibit opening of photographs from Mark Chester’s Twosomes, a lecture from the artist himself and a book signing. The photographer will give a talk about his book and his vision of photography and will be on sale at location for this special occasion.

“Twosomes is a compilation of twosomes and then some. Some time ago I realized, when looking through my files of prints and contacts, that my photographs are more than pictures of people, places, and things that touched me in some emotional, intellectual, or whimsical way. Many of them also contain two or more of a given subject: two women, two men, two gloves, etc. I developed the idea of presenting two images next to each other on the exhibition wall – and ultimately on the facing pages of a book. Juxtaposed here, then, are images from forty years of traveling with a camera.

This event is a program of Foto Week DC.

MARK CHESTER has been a professional photographer since 1972. He was Director of Photography and staff photographer at ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) in New York City. His photographs are in the permanent collections of Baltimore, Brooklyn, Corcoran, Denver, Portland (Maine), and San Francisco museums, among others.

Books will be available for sale and for signing.
