ArtSpace Herndon and the Council for the Arts of Herndon present the first ever “At Home in Herndon” Town Calendar Photography Competition.
Entry Deadline: March 31, 2011

Professional and amateur photographers aged 16 and older are invited to submit entries to the competition; the deadline for submissions is March 31, 2011.  Subjects for all entries must be located within the corporate limits of the Town of Herndon, and special consideration will be given to entries that depict seasonal or community events.

Photographs submitted to the competition will be evaluated by a select panel of jurors that includes Jim Kirby, the “At Home in Herndon” Calendar photographer for more than 20 years; Erik Patten, photography instructor at the Art Institute of Northern Virginia; and Scott Zetlan, a photographer who has also judged the Digital Photography category of the Technology in the Arts Competition sponsored by the Council for the Arts of Herndon.
Competition finalists will be invited to exhibit in ArtSpace Herndon’s Post Gallery, May 3 – 15, 2011.

From these finalist photographs, the Town of Herndon will select photographs to be published in the 2012 “At Home in Herndon” Town Calendar.  Each year in December, more than 10,000 calendars are printed and distributed to all citizens and businesses throughout the town.  In addition to the exhibit and publication in the calendar, finalist photographs will also be eligible to receive the “At Home in Herndon People’s Choice Award,” given to the photograph that best captures Herndon.
