The United Christian Parish of Reston Virginia, by historic Lake Ann, will hold it's inaugural Fall Art and Craft Fair on November 7, 2015 from 10 am. to 4 pm. It will take place in the church's social hall and lounge. The show will be juried to assure a variety of quality artists and crafters. The cost of a booth is ten dollars with ten percent of sales going to the church's mission fund.  Please see the attached Call for Entries and Application form below. We look forward to showcasing local artists and crafters.

In the Brand NEW Gallery -- The Art Room in Petersburg, VA

  * Celebrating the work of Edgar Allan Poe, who honeymooned in Petersburg.

  * Jurors include Chris Semtner, Curator of the Museum of Edgar Allan Poe and Jeff Abugel,
    author of Poe's Petersburg, the Raven in the Cockade City.

  * Opening will coincide with the anniversary of his death on October 7th. The show runs for the
    duration of the month, and concludes on Halloween!

  * Virginia Artists and Crafters -- amateur to professional --- in a variety of mediums are invited
    to submit work that features symbols and imagery used by Poe, but not literal “illustrations” of his work.

  * Think ravens, hearts, black velvet, sheet metal, nails, masks, etc., portraits that honors the author,
    or showcases imagery from his writing.

  * No skeletons or skulls, macabre images, nudity, satanic images or weapons will be considered.

  * All artwork must be original...However, artists whose work is selected may consign reproductions
    with the gallery for the duration of the show.

  * Preferred Mediums:

  * Two Dimensional Work: oil or acrylic paintings, mixed media and drawings --
    must be framed [or finished], wired and ready to hang.

  * Three Dimensional Work: sculptural and/or functional pieces in wood, ceramic, glass, stained glass, and metal. Nothing over 4’ tall.

  * Jewelry: Original work - no stringed beads or manufactured items.

  * Other Important Info:

  * Selected artwork must be delivered in person or shipped to arrive by Friday, October 2nd.
    and must be picked up by Wednesday, November 4th. Feel free to ship -- the artist is
    responsible for postage/shipping charges.

  * Artists must maintain insurance on their own work - the gallery is secured and has an
    alarm system, but will not be insuring your work for loss or damage.

  * Commission is only 25% of sales and will be paid 30 days after the close of the show.

  * A portion of the sales from opening night will be donated to The Museum of Edgar Allan Poe.

  * Jury Fee is $25 per 3 images.

  * Cash prizes will be awarded

 Deadline is September 4th!

The 9th Annual Paint! Manassas plein air competition is coming up in September. Multiple painting and exhibit opportunities will be associated with this year's competition, which begins Friday, September 4 and runs to the end of the month. Please see the attached entry form below; deadline to register is September 4.
More information is on the website www.p-ART-ners.org.
Artists who would like the plein air experience but are not interested in competing are welcome to come out and join us! Send your contact information so we can keep you apprised of painting opportunities as they come up.

The deadline for the Reston Century Bike T-Shirt Call for Art has been extended to Monday, July 20th, 2015 at 11:55 p.m. 


Reston Bicycle Club (RBC) and ArtSpace Herndon invite all 2D artists to enter the Reston Century T-Shirt Art Competition.  All 2 dimensional media are acceptable including painting, drawing and photography. Artwork and photography entered in this year's competition must carry a theme that identifies it with Reston, VA and road cycling.


Recognition will be given to first, second and third places as determined by the Reston Bike Club Board in the following amounts.  First Place: $500.00; Second Place: $300.00; Third Place: $100.00.Reston Bike Club will contact artists once the jury has completed its work by July 27, 2015.


The first place winning entry will be placed on the event shirts with artist credit (approximately 1200 shirts).  On the day of the Reston Century, the winning artist will be encouraged to sell prints of the winning artwork in format(s) of his/her choosing in a space under the registration pavilion at Reston Town Center. No commission will be charged on the artist sales that day.

Street Painting Festival June 6, 2015

Prospectus Application Deadline: May 30, 2015

Announcing the 3rd Annual Battle of the Artists, a street painting festival held on Battle Street in historic Old Town Manassas. Artists are being sought to create art on the pavement using chalk pastels.

There is no entry fee, and art supplies are provided. $100 will be awarded to the “People’s Favorite” painting. This event takes place during the Manassas Railway Festival.

Street painting tips will be posted online at www.p-ART-ners.org; we recommend that you read them before submitting your application.

Who may apply: Any adult artist (18 and up), or group of artists. Student groups and individuals under 18 may apply if they are under the direct supervision of a teacher or guardian. Space is limited; artists will be chosen based on images submitted with the application. (Note for groups: each group member (or legal guardian for artists under 18) will be required to sign a release statement when they check in on June 6.)

What you may paint: Each artist/group MUST submit a copy of their proposed street painting image. This may be an original work, or a copy of another artist’s work or photograph. Artists may paint any subject as long as it is appropriate for family viewing and does not contain commercial messaging (logos, slogans etc.)

Space: Each artist or group will have a 5x5’ space to draw in.

Check in: Artists need to check in at the Artists’ Tent at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6 to receive their assigned space and supplies. Spaces not claimed by 19:30 a.m. will be reassigned to another artist. NOTE: Traffic may be difficult, give yourself plenty of time to get there. Use of the parking garage is highly recommended.

Supplies: All supplies necessary to complete the drawings will be provided. Only the pastels provided may be used to complete the drawings; however, a list of additional permitted materials will be available on our website. This list will also be e-mailed to accepted artists.

Time: Artists may start painting as soon as they have registered. The “People’s Favorite” voting will begin around noon, but you may continue working until 3, when the Festival ends. The winner will be announced around 3 p.m.

Weather: In the event of light, intermittent showers, the festival will take place as scheduled. If heavy rain occurs, plastic will be available to cover the drawings. In case of all day rain, the event will be cancelled.

To apply: Fill out the attached application and return it by May 30, 2015. Please read it carefully: only complete applications with required attachments will be accepted.

Art in the Burg 2015
A Town-wide Arts Celebration
Saturday, June 20, 2015

We invite you to take part in an exciting event this summer! The Middleburg Arts Council (MAC) is sponsoring the third annual town-wide arts celebration, Art in the Burg. Last year, over 30 artists enjoyed the beautiful day while mingling with the many visitors from the region.

Art in the Burg will be from 11 am to 5 pm, Saturday, June 20th. The event will also include music, wine tastings, and possibly plein air artists.

Tents will be placed at three locations on Washington Street (National Sporting Library & Museum, Middleburg Methodist Church and the large yard next to Sheridan MacMahon Real Estate Office). 

Each location will feature tents (10x10) for artists and musicians. Each tent can host up to 2 artists demonstrating and offering their artwork for sale. The Town has a limited number of tents available. Artists may use their own tents (white tents preferred, 10x10, no tarps). We expect to be able to accommodate over 30 artists.

To Participate:

$15 nonrefundable registration fee
Artists will be required to sign a waiver form
Tents will be set up by MAC by 9 am
Artist set-up is required by 10 am
Take down no sooner than 5 pm
No rain date

Reserve Space Now:
To reserve space, interested artists should send an email to artburg2015@middleburgarts.org with the subject "Art in the Burg Artist." Reservation deadline is May 20, 2015.

Soon after we receive your email reservation, we will email you the application form and waiver. Your completed application, waiver and a $15 check payable to "Town of Middleburg" must be received by May 30th.

The Central Virginia Watercolor Guild invites artists to enter their 24th Annual Show. The show will be held at the McGuffey Art Center, 201 Second Street NW, Charlottesville, VA from September 4 - 27, 2015. Applications are due June 6.
