CALL FOR ARTISTS: "One Love" Judged and Juried Fine Art Show

  • Share the love! Historic Manassas, Inc. is seeking 2D art for a themed exhibit, held May 2018. Theme: “Celebration of Life.” $1,500 in cash prizes. Open to artists who can hand deliver their work.

    Deadlines and entry fees:
    Early bird deadline: April 6, $25 per artist for up to 4 works.
    After April 6: $35 per artist for up to 4 works.
    Final deadline: April 13 2018. Entry fees are non-refundable.
    Notification of acceptance will be given on or before April 25, 2018

    Requirements: Works selected for exhibition will be juried from digital images of your work. Each artist may enter up to 4 works, completed within the last 3 years, in any media suitable for hanging on a wall. We are seeking “family friendly” art that celebrates life. All artwork must be original in concept, design and execution. Minimum height/width, 8”. Maximum height/width, 42” (including frame). Maximum depth, 6”. Maximum weight, 30 lbs.

    Use of images: Any image submitted may be used for marketing and promotional purposes directly related to the “One Love” event. Additionally, Historic Manassas, Inc would like to choose 12 works to be featured in a 2019 One Love calendar. Artists chosen will receive a byline but no other compensation for use of an image. Please indicate on the entry form if you would permit your work to be used for the calendar.

    Location: Jirani Coffee House, 9425 West Street (in the walkway by the RR tracks), Manassas. Free parking nearby in the parking garage and the train station lot, both accessible from Prince William Street.

    Delivery/pick up: Deliver selected artwork to Jirani on Monday, May 7, 6-7 p.m. Pick-up Monday, June 4, 6-7 p.m. Works not picked up will be charged a $10/day storage fee.

    Presentation: Work must be suitably framed to a professional standard. No clip frames, saw-tooth hangers or taped edges. Canvases may have neat gallery wrapped edges. Label the back of the work with your name, contact info (email and/or phone), title of work, media and price.
    (Labels for the FRONT are provided at the drop off point.)

    Reception and awards: Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place; awards presented during the reception on Saturday, May 19th. First place winner will also be awarded a solo exhibit at Jirani.

    Commission
    : Jirani will process all sales and retain a 20% commission. Checks will be mailed to the artists by June 30th, 2018.

Open Call for Local Artists

Touchstone Foundation Fellowship for Emerging Artists is offering an opportunity to exhibit, develop and grow as an artist. 
The Fellowship provides a 2 year artist membership in Touchstone Gallery in downtown DC. This guarantees a solo
exhibition at the end of 2 year, participation in monthly gallery group shows, and a presence on the gallery website.
The monetary value of the fellowship exceeds $4200.

“Best of the Region 2” Fine Art Show & Sale 

We are seeking art in all media for a juried fine art show, to be exhibited in Manassas VA. Works will also be displayed online. Open to artists who live, work or create art within a 35 mile radius of Manassas, VA. 

Deadline to enter: Friday, March 9, 2018.

Entry fee: Members of Sponsor Organizations: $15 per artist. All others: $25 per artist.

What you may enter: Original work of the artist only, completed within the last three
years, in any medium that can be hung on the walls. Any subject, but must be “family
friendly”. Maximum dimension, 42” (including frame). Minimum, 8”. Maximum weight, 20
lbs. Up to 5 submissions per artist. The show will be juried from jpegs of your work.
Artwork previously shown in this exhibit will not be accepted.

Drop off/pick up: Drop off selected artwork Monday, March 19, 2 p.m. Pick up Friday,
April 6, 2 p.m. If you can’t meet these times, please contact us for alternatives.

Location: The Hall at City Hall, 9027 Center Street, Manassas.

Presentation: Please adhere to our framing and presentation guidelines, attached.

Reception and awards: At minimum, $300, $200 and $100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be
awarded. Awards will be presented during the reception (time/date TBA.) Awards will be
selected by a qualified judge.

Sales: Are between the artist and the customer. No commission is taken.

King Street Bridge Mural - CALL TO ARTISTS

A Public-Private Collaboration between the Town of Leesburg, Virginia Commission on Public Art and The Friends of Leesburg Public Arts
Summary:
At the suggestion of a local high school student, the Leesburg Commission on Public Art is seeking submissions for murals to be painted on each side the King Street bridge that crosses over Town Branch in Leesburg. The bridge is in a highly visible location for users of the W&OD bike trail and Georgetown Park in historic downtown Leesburg. Once the King Street bridge project is completed, residents and visitors will have a prime view of the mural. The Friends of Leesburg Public Arts assists with fundraising to cover costs associated with artist fees and materials.

DC GALLERY SOLO SHOW OPPORTUNITY

Foundry Gallery in Washington, DC will host a guest solo exhibit for the month of August 2017. This call is open to artists residing in the US working in 2-D media.  Proposals by both individuals and groups will be considered. Full details provided in Foundry Gallery Solo Exhibition Prospectus.

Share Your Vision of Nearby Nature and enter NVCT’s Photo Contest.

Enter your photos of Northern Virginia’s beautiful urban and rural outdoor spaces in the Nearby Nature Photo Competition, sponsored by the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust. The contest is open to all non-professional photographers, with prizes for youth and adults in two categories: “the land and water around us” and “people enjoying the land.” See www.nvct.org for entry form and details. The Lynchburg Art Club is holding it’s 1st Annual Paint Out Lynchburg, April 29 - May 1. Early Bird Registration Discount deadline is April 11!

CHALK ARTISTS

p-ART-ners is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Battle of the Artists, a
street painting festival to be held on June 4 in Historic Downtown
Manassas.

Artists are being sought to create art on the pavement using chalk. There
is no entry fee, all materials are provided, and cash prizes are awarded
at the end of the day. Artists may work solo or as a group.

Deadline to register is May 30. The prospectus, entry form, and other

Community Sustainable Arts Call for Artists

The City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts invites artists and artist teams living and/or working in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia to submit proposals for participation in a Community Supported Art initiative. Built upon the traditional Community Supported Agriculture model that provides opportunities for consumers to buy seasonal food directly from local farmers, Community Supported Arts (CSA) will provide a unique way for collectors to acquire original art from regional artists.

Six artists or artist teams will be selected to participate in the 2016 CSA. Each artist will be required to create 50 pieces of original art for the program. All visual arts mediums will be considered, including, but not limited to, ceramics, textiles, photography, printing/letterpress, metal work, carved/turned wood, glass, paper arts, painting, etc. All artwork must be original, handcrafted by the artist. No giclees will be accepted.
