LRA will be holding an exhibition at the Ernst Cultural Center, 8333
Little River Turnpike, Annandale VA 22003. This is open to
photographers, digital artists and painters. The exhibition will be
from Saturday, September 6 until Saturday, October 25. There will be a
reception on Saturday, October 4 from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m during which
awards will be presented by our judge - Trudi C. Van Dyke. Charlene Fuhrman-Schulz, LRA Treasurer, will be the Exhibition Coordinator for this show.
members have been asking about this venue and I expect we will have a
great number of people signing up so I would highly recommend that you
register early. Two things to keep in mind for this show, we have
reduced the entry fee for LRA members to $20 for 3 pieces of your work.
We are also allowing larger pieces for this show with the maximum size
of any work, including the frame, is 48 inches horizontally and 60

consultant who specializes in exhibitions of fiber and fine craft. She curates
arts exhibitions nationally and internationally. She was formerly director of
the Torpedo Factory Arts Center (Alexandria, VA) and the Ellipse Art Center
(Arlington, VA). She travels around the country as a festival judge and
conference speaker on the business of art and the adaptive reuse of facilities.

highlights of our exhibitions and expand LRA's scope and reputation for
producing some great works of art.
I hope that you will be a part of this year’s Art Mirrors Culture exhibit
in the Jo Ann Rose Gallery and 3D Gallery at RCC Lake Anne during
September. This exhibit that honors the multi-faceted cultural heritage
of our community encourages artists of all ages and backgrounds to take
part. In the Jo Ann Rose Gallery, all forms of art that can be hung on
a wall are welcome. In the 3D Gallery, two 30-foot walls of glass
cases are waiting to be filled with ceramic, sculpture, mosaic, stained
glass and other three-dimensional pieces. The 3D part of the Art Mirrors Culture exhibit will go until the November 21.
There are two Call for Entries forms,
one for 2-dimensional art to be displayed in the Jo Ann Rose Gallery
and another for 3-dimensional art for the 3D Gallery. They can be
downloaded from on our website at http://restoncommunitycenter.com/arts_exhibits.shtml or let me know and I will email one or both to you. The return date for the FORMS ONLY is Sunday, August 24 by 7:00 p.m.
If you are not sure of the names of pieces, that is fine – that information can be added when you drop off your work during either Friday, August 29, or Saturday, August 30. There is no Sunday
drop off for this exhibit. There is a $2 per work hanging fee in the
Jo Ann Rose Gallery for up to two pieces per person and a $1 fee per
work for up to 10 pieces in the 3D Gallery.
Since this exhibit will help celebrate the Multicultural Festival on Saturday, September 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., please include a few words
(up to 50) that describe how your piece(s) mirror your culture.
Culture can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but a strong visual
connection with your cultural heritage is encouraged in your work and
pass this information along to artists that you know of any age. If
the drop-off days do not work for you, let me know and we can arrange
another time for you to bring your work.

Village at Leesburg is proud to offer all level of local artists –
adult and youth – an opportunity to participate in our 2nd Annual Juried
Art Show with prizes. The public is invited to attend the FREE August
23 Art Festival.
Artists from Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and Washington DC are
invited to submit applications for the Artful August Art Festival at
Village at Leesburg on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Village at Leesburg
is located along Route 7 at the Crosstrail Blvd./River Creek Parkway
exit in Leesburg, Virginia. The street address is 1602 Village Market
Boulevard SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
FREE application: Show acceptance based on available space.
FREE Display Space: Artist can display and/or sell artwork; artist keeps ALL proceeds from any art sales.
FREE Contest Entry: Artist has option to enter up to five (5) of
his/her displayed artwork for judging by Jury and also for vote by Show
attendees for the People’s Choice Awards.$100 donation to each
non-profit art group, school, youth group, or other non-profit
organization with 10+ participating artists.The public is invited to
attend the FREE August 23 Art Festival.

At our Parkridge 5 location, the 'Celebrate Spring' Exhibit will be ending soon and our new Exhibit 'Signs of Summer' will begin. The pick up for the 'Celebrate Spring' exhibit is Saturday, July 12th between 9:00-9:30 a.m. If you cannot pick up your art pieces, please arrange for someone to pick up your art for you.
The website has an open registration for the new exhibit 'Signs of Summer'. The exhibit is open to painters and photographers. Three pieces may be entered and the first 20 artists who register on the website will be accepted for this exhibit. You must register on the website in
order to be counted as a participant. Our space is limited in this
location so please enter as soon as possible. A judge will be used
to determine monetary awards for the artists in both painting and

The Friends of Claude Moore Park (FCMP) invite you to participate in the 7th Annual FCMP Photography Expo “Natural Spaces and Old Places” to be held on September 27, 2014.
Photographers of all levels and ages are encouraged to enter their
favorite photos into the juried competition in five categories: Roots
and Buds, Wild Creatures, Winged Wonders, Natural Landscapes, and
History and Heritage. The Paul Glascock Memorial People’s Choice Award
will be voted by the Photo Expo visitors. Ribbons and cash awards will
be presented to winners in the various categories. Time flies so make

You are invited to Art Guild of Clifton plein air painting event at our historic town of Clifton Va. on June 21-22, 2014.
We have a special setting that includes historic homes and a barn, beautiful gardens, a gazebo in the park, winding lanes, a railroad crossing with caboose, and a donkey named "jackpot". In our small, one square mile town, you don't have to go far to find a quaintness waiting to be painted and interpreted with your inspiration.
For artists, there are cash prizes and awards. And, on June 21st we are also holding our annual Wine Festival, realizing an audience to observe artists at work.

Touchstone Foundation for the Arts
Young Artist Fellowship 2014-2016
Touchstone Foundation for the Arts (TFA) Young Artist Fellowship program
is open to Washington area artists between the age of 18-29 and is
designed to help young and emerging artists to develop professionally
through a two-year membership in the Touchstone Gallery, mentoring by
established artists, participation in gallery group shows, and a
culminating solo show at the end of the two year fellowship. The
application process for the 2014-2016 fellowship program is now open for interested artists. Interested candidates should visit the TFA website: www.touchstonefoundationdc.org
