Benefit for Reston Interfaith

Reston Community Center at Lake Anne
Jo Ann Rose Gallery
Reston, Virginia

December 2007

Area artists are invited to exhibit their work (two-dimensional only; photography welcome) that can be purchased for gift giving. Up to two works per artist will be accepted for a $5 entry fee per work. The Reston Community Center charges no sales commission, although artists are encouraged to donate 10% of any sales to Reston Interfaith, to continue the important work of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter, the Laurel Learning Center and their Community Services Outreach, which includes job counseling, emergency food, and youth programs. For further information call Cheri Danaher, Arts Education Director, at 703-476-4500, x 6175, or Gloria Morrow, Arts Education Assistant at x 3012.

The Jo Ann Rose Gallery is dedicated to the memory of Reston artist Jo Ann Rose. Jo Ann was an elected member of the Reston Community Center Board of Governors and an active past president of the League of Reston Artists. Jo Ann worked tirelessly for the creation of this unique community space to celebrate the arts and artists of our community.

ELIGIBILITY RULES

  • All works must be securely framed using screw eyes and hanging wire for the hanging system in the Gallery. Works deemed unsafe will be returned to the artist. (Clip style frames are not acceptable.) If you have any questions about framing, contact Cheri Danaher at 703-476-4500, x 6175 or Gloria Morrow at x 3000.
  • Off-white or white mattes are preferred to ensure a coordinated appearance.
  • Each work must have the artist's name, phone number, title of work, price, and medium clearly visible on the back. Sales will not be conducted by the RCC—patrons will be directed to contact the artists directly, and the artists will be responsible for sales and sales taxes.
  • Sold artwork may be removed from this exhibit only by arrangement with the Art Coordinator.
  • Because the Reston Community Center is a public facility used by all members of the community, the nature of daily activities requires discretion in the type of work displayed. Work that is sexually explicit (i.e., work that is representational or realistic in depiction of human genitals will be considered sexually explicit by the RCC), or work that is graphically violent will not be considered appropriate for the space. If artwork that does not meet these guidelines is hung, the Reston Community Center reserves the right to remove the work and store it until the artist can be contacted. Center staff and artists work together to create an atmosphere that is sensitive to the multi-use nature of the facility.
