QUESTION:
How should artwork be framed for shows?
ANSWER:
Screw eyes and hanging wire must be mounted on the back of the frame.
No works with clips or other mounting devices will be accepted.
LRA Hanging Guidelines:
- Frames must have secure screw eyes and wires
- No clip frames, front or back
- No sawtooth hangers
- No wires attached with staples
- Place screw eyes 1 1/2 inches from top of frame
- Mattes should be white or off-white
- All paint must be dry
- Glazing points are recommended for works on canvas
Advice: Presentation is just as important as the art
itself. No matter how good your work of art is, if your mats or
glass are dirty, your plexiglas scratched, or your frame banged
up or dented, the juror and the buying public will see that you
don't care enough to present your work professionally. Sloppy or
dirty presentation can cost you acceptance in shows, awards, and
ultimately sales. Be as careful in presenting your work as you do
in creating it.
