Reston’s beauty, community pride, and cultural environment, make it ideal for the encouragement and growth of artists. The League of Reston Artists (LRA) was created more than 30 years ago to develop and encourage a high interest in art among Reston area citizens. Since then, it has grown to 200 Northern Virginia and DC metro area artists, photographers, and individuals interested in the visual arts.

The LRA provides member artists ample opportunity to display their work and challenging opportunities for personal growth. The LRA strives to generate community enthusiasm and appreciation of the visual arts through regularly sponsored juried and judged exhibitions.

Benefits of Membership

  • Annual judged and juried group exhibits with artists’ receptions
  • Opportunities to exhibit work in local public and private buildings and offices.
  • Quarterly programs featuring guest speakers, artist demonstrations, group critiques, and sharing of art and arts business related information.
  • Up to date web site with links to member sites, and posting of member activities and opportunities for members.
  • Life Drawing Group in cooperation with the Reston Community Center.

The LRA supports the Reston Community by sharing the varied talents of its membership through rotating exhibits in many local public and private buildings and offices. Through our Scholarship Award Program, the LRA grants a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring young artist graduating from any Fairfax County High School who will continue their education in the visual arts. Our community involvement also includes membership in the Arts Council of Fairfax County and the Council for the Arts of Herndon. Artists and photographers, in addition to the general public are always welcome to attend our meetings and events. Minimal annual dues entitle active artists to become participating members with access to our variety of exhibition opportunities.

The League of Reston Artists is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
