We’re excited to announce our first speaker of the 2023-2024 season of the Reston Photographic Society. We will meet on October 16 at 7:30 on Zoom. Our first speaker will be Ron Wyatt a professional photographer who loves teaching and sharing his experiences. Ron will discuss Sports Photography bringing his experience from the Olympics to major league sports. I’ve shared Ron’s bio and a little about his talk below.

Ron Wyatt discusses capturing the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat in sports photography. Whether you’re an ambitious beginner, or a seasoned pro, Ron will cover equipment, camera set-up, and planning an awesome shooting strategy. Ron will also emphasize the importance of knowing the game – how to have fun photographing sports and what it’s like to cover the Olympic Games. Before you know it, “play ball” will resound in your neighborhood and ballparks across the land. Ron will help the family photo-bugs prepare for capturing action on and around the field. This is the perfect seminar to learn the basics of sports photography, and see images of epic sporting events captured by a true pro.

Ron Wyatt’s first experience with photography was an unsuccessful photo documentation of his honeymoon. Armed with a borrowed instamatic camera, he learned that camera shake will not produce great photos.
Ron, a self-taught photographer has covered the NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball. He also has photographed two Summer Olympic Games. His photos have appeared in various publications such as: USA Today, Black Enterprise Magazine, Time Magazine, Newsweek TV Guide, ESPN and others.
He has covered corporate assignments for, Six Flags, Eastman Kodak, Continental Airlines, CVS, Pepsico, Verizon, MetLife, Capital One and many others.

His Photography has allowed him to travel to various parts of the world. I was assigned by Kodak to photograph two Summer Olympic Games, (Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008). His Olympic work was featured in Studio Photography and a 7 page spread in the July 2009 issue of RangeFinder Magazine.
American Photo call Ron Wyatt A Modern Master Of The Olympics, His works was also feature in Popular Photography and Digital Photographer UK.
He has worked a video cameramen for MSNBC, Comcast Sports, News12 and Court TV.
